Just my luck...

So, I have bi-monthly performance reviews with my manager. I had one on Monday morning. I walked in and sat down, about 5 minutes into the meeting he notices the road rash on my arm and says, "Okay, I just saw your arm, what happened?"

I begin to tell him the awesome Vespa accident that happened on Saturday and also the incident with my thumb and the sander at the Happy Factory on Thursday. I finish both stories and he says, "You know, bad things happen in threes, right?"

I thought to myself...."I canNOT believe you just said that out loud". Sure I had been thinking it, but to say it out loud!?!?!?! Unbelievable!

About four hours later, I went to lunch with a friend from work. We were driving on a major road when we stopped at a red light......the guy behind us wasn't paying attention and he didn't stop! We got REAR ENDED!!!!!

My friend that was driving suffered from a concussion (luckily she went straight to the doctor after the accident). I'm a little sore, but doing okay! I came back to work and told my boss that it was all his fault...

I sure hope I'm done with bad luck for a while. I don't think I've ever been this accident prone. Sheesh!

Who wrecks on a Vespa Scooter!?!?!

Warning: The following post contains material that may be unsuitable for some viewers. Parental discretion is advised.

The pictures below tell it all, however, for those of you that are curious, I will tell the little story of how I wrecked on the Vespa. Our sweet neighbor offered to let me and my husband take her Vespa for a ride after our Shish-ka-bobs on Saturday night. Matthew and I drove around the block and then he asked me if I wanted to try it. "It's easier than riding a bike!" So, I tried it...Matthew was on the back of the scooter with me and I wasn't riding more than 10 seconds, when I freaked out pulled the throttle and sent the bike and Matthew flying on top of me. It's pretty sweet....the pictures below put my thumb to shame, which is the least of my worries now.

PS. I was wearing Capris and flip flops.....WHAT was I thinking!?!?!?!?

Happy Factory Cars

Girl's Camp in three weeks! It's getting crazy around here... I had a hard time finding a service project for my girls to do up at camp, but I finally found them. This non-profit organization Happy Factory Cars builds these little toy cars for children and ships them all over the world. It's a pretty amazing story. If you have time, and if the website is working, you should check them out here.

In order to be able to take the cars up to camp and finish them I had to get 8 people 18 years and older to come to the factory for 3 hours to cut and sand the cars and get them all ready to be assembled and oiled. My friend Kristie helped me get it set up, so we went Thursday. Below are some pictures of our efforts; GOOD TIMES!

More Sanding.....three hours worth!
You talkin' to ME!?
Mandy, our YW President...she broke the saw.
My new Camp Assistant, Camila! HOORAY!!!!!Kristie, my sweet friend from work, she's the bomb! She's helped me sooooo much with camp.
Heebucci (aka Jessica)We look HOT!!!!! We literally were...sweat and dust EVERYWHERE!
We're done.....YAY!

So, the sweet old man, who's over the Factory in Orem turns to us after almost 3 hours and motions to us that we have 5 minutes left. I keep workin' hard, sanding my little cars trying to bust out as many as we can. The sanding was definitely the most difficult and dirty job. Every 10 minutes a car would pop out of our hands, we'd look around frantically and ask, "Are you okay? Are you okay?" We all were just fine.....Well, we were down to the last minute and a little toy car popped out of my hand....and my hand headed straight for the sander, below is what happened...

I sanded my little thumb nail down to the skin. It's pretty sweet AND painful. Oh well, now I have a good story to tell the girls up at camp. We all had a really great time and I've already considered going back on a regular basis. I think it's such a great idea. Some of the children that receive these cars have never had a toy in their whole life! I so grateful for the opportunity to serve!

We are family...

My family came out for a week. We had a lot of fun together. Below are some recaps for you to enjoy!

We went to the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti. It is a beautiful drive and it was a really nice night. We got there around 6pm and had our picnic dinner and then we played card games and hung out until the pageant started at 9:30pm. It was a great evening, but we didn't end up getting home until 2am because the traffic getting out was so bad and it was an hour and a half from home. (We definitely slept in the next day).

After lunch we went to the Orem Summerfest, which was a blast! The girls were able to ride the carnival rides, we had snow cones and and lots of yummy treats. We stayed for the parade and then watched the fireworks afterward. It was nice to spend the day outside.

After a few hours, it DID get tiring.

All in all, it was a great trip! My parents also took my sisters to the Hogle Zoo, Antelope Island, and Bryce Canyon. My mom even helped me with a sewing project for Girl's Camp (I actually sewed)!!! It's always great to have my family here! :) I miss them already! If only we lived closer...

Vic & Lori's Baby Shower

This past weekend I went to AZ for my sister's baby shower. It was such an exhausting weekend, but totally worth it! I was able to help my sister with her shower and see most of my family. Below is a slide show from all the pictures I took which include the Baby Shower invitations I did for them back in March and the Diaper Cake that Lori & I made on Friday night. On Sunday I was also able to go to my little niece's blessing. It was such a great weekend and I'm already trying to figure out when we can sneak down next. :) Enjoy the pictures!
